I have never been very good at waiting. I don't like to wait. I get impatient just waiting for the traffic light to turn from red to green. I get ansy if I have to wait in line at the check-out counter. Sometimes the internet seems to move as slow as molasses. Don't even get me started about waiting at the doctor's office!
And wouldn't you know it, whenever I am in a hurry, that is when I end up having to wait the most! Not to mention, the wait always seems longer the more you think about what it is that you are waiting for. As you wait, you begin to feel like you are going to burst at the seams. You might be ready to explode with anger or frustration because you have been forced to wait much longer than you expected or because you aren't excited in the least about whatever you are waiting for (like a root canal at the dentist's). Or, you might be overwhelmed with such excitement and anticipation that whatever it is you are waiting for just can't get here fast enough. Either way, waiting is hard. Nine months can seem like a terribly long time, especially if you are waiting to meet your precious baby. So, what can you do to make the most of the time between the day you find out you are expecting and the day you welcome your child to the world?Taking childbirth classes is an excellent idea! Not only will you be more prepared for your baby's arrival, but you will also be better equipped for all that is involved in the labor and delivery process. You wait nine long months for this one very special and memorable day. Why not use that time to help make your baby's birth day the very best it can be!

Remember the nursery rhyme that goes, "Mary, Mary, how does your garden grow?" Well, her answer would be a lot different than if you asked me the same question. Mary's garden consisted of silver bells and cockle shells all in a row, while my garden refers to the pregnant women (couples really) taking my childbirth classes. Mary's garden required watering and weeding for her flowers to grow. My garden needs love and tender care too, but in the form of education, personal interaction, and access to resources. I hope that I am providing all of these and more for the students in my classes, for I certainly want their "little sprouts" to grow healthy and strong. I can't wait to meet these beautiful babies, and I am just the childbirth educator. Imagine how their parents feel! :)
