Hello! My name is Sarah Young, and I am so excited for you as you prepare for your new baby! Thanks so much for visiting my webpage and taking the time to get to know a little bit about me.
I was born and raised in Kansas. Having grown up in a small farming community, moving to Chicago for college was quite the experience. I loved life in the city though and made the most of my opportunities to go to the lake and parks, visit museums, and take in all the various cultures that had mingled together to make Chicago the world-class city it is. I received my degree in elementary education and immediately after graduating prepared to move to the country of Haiti, where I worked with Kids Alive International for two years. My first year, I helped create curriculum for the new school and taught art, P.E., and cooking classes. During my second year, I was able to teach the kindergarten class! When my term was finished, I moved back to the States and got engaged just days later (my boyfriend, now husband, and I had quite the long-distance dating relationship!). We were married three months after that and settled down in Liberty, Missouri, where he had a job teaching 3rd grade. I taught 5th grade for two years, as well as helping out as a volleyball, basketball, and track coach. Now I get to stay at home with our daughters and run our Kairos Creations business (handmade and handlettered signs and more).
My husband and I met when we were both counselors at Ponca Bible Camp in Arkansas. We go back every summer and help out at the camp in some way. The outdoors is one of our favorite places to be, and we enjoy hiking, camping, and canoeing. We also like to play sports, especially volleyball. Family and friends are a big part of our life, and we love playing cards or board games when we have people over to visit. We are actively involved in our church, and one of our favorite things is that we get to take part in a community service project every month! Basically, we just have fun doing life together.
We have four daughters who were born in 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2015. They are the joy of our lives! We love them to pieces and are having such fun watching them grow up and learn new things. They are the reason why I am teaching childbirth classes. When we found out we were pregnant with our first baby, we wanted to learn as much as we possibly could to get ready for her birth. We knew that being parents started right then, as soon as we saw the huge plus sign on the pregnancy test! A good friend introduced us to the Bradley Method® and through those classes we learned so much and were able to have a natural birth without any medication! I remember her birth so vividly and feeling overwhelmed with love as I held my little girl for the first time. Having had such a good experience, I wanted to help as many people as possible prepare for the birth of their own babies and look back on that special day with great fondness and pride.
My passion to help others learn about natural birth and prepare for their babies' arrival has only intensified in the last few years as I look back on my girls' "birth"days with deep joy and peace. My love for birth and babies has also led me to serve as a doula, providing support and encouragement during labor and delivery. Futhermore, being a busy mom has helped me understand the need for a post-partum doula, so I also offer help at home so the family can better focus on and enjoy that new precious baby!
Thank you so much for taking time to read a little bit about me. If you want to know even more, feel free to visit our blog: sarahsmithyoung.blogspot.com!
